The world is mourning a heartbreaking loss today. A familiar face who touched so many people has died far too soon at just 46

‘Big Brother’ Star Amber Siyavus Dies at 46 as Fans Remember One of Season 8’s Most Emotional Houseguests

Fans of *Big Brother* are mourning the death of Amber Siyavus, one of the most memorable contestants from the reality show’s eighth season.

Siyavus died on Friday, October 9, in Clark County, Nevada, according to records from the Clark County Office of the Coroner/Medical Examiner.

She was 46 years old.

Her cause and manner of death have not yet been determined and remain under investigation.

For viewers who watched *Big Brother 8* in 2007, Amber quickly became one of the season’s most recognizable personalities.

She spent more than 60 days inside the house and eventually finished in seventh place.

Known for wearing her emotions openly, Amber frequently cried during difficult moments and eventually became known to fans by the nickname “Whamber.”

But behind the nickname was a contestant who formed genuine connections with several of her fellow houseguests.

She became especially close with Dustin Erikstrup and Jameka Cameron, relationships that helped define much of her time in the house.

Amber also spoke often about her daughter, Lexi Tomcavage, while appearing on the show.

Following news of her death, longtime *Big Brother* host Julie Chen Moonves shared a tribute remembering Amber’s openness and emotional honesty.

“Rest in Peace Amber. Hard to believe but I know you are back in our eternal home with our Creator.”

Chen Moonves continued:

“Thank you for your heart and honesty. We will remember you with love ❤️.”

Other members of the *Big Brother* community also shared memories after learning of her death.

Amber had entered the reality show as a Las Vegas cocktail waitress and became part of the season’s memorable group of personalities.

Season 8 was ultimately won by Dick Donato, but Amber remained one of the contestants viewers continued to remember years after the finale.

Her time on television, however, represented only one chapter of her life.

Behind the reality-TV fame, Amber later endured an enormous personal tragedy.

In 2018, her 18-year-old daughter Lexi died in Ohio in what authorities investigated as an apparent suicide.

The loss was especially heartbreaking for longtime viewers who remembered how frequently Amber had spoken about her daughter during her time inside the *Big Brother* house.

Amber’s later years also included legal difficulties.

According to court records reported by TMZ, she pleaded guilty in 2020 to attempting to resist an officer with a dangerous weapon after prosecutors alleged that she attempted to drive away while a Henderson, Nevada, police officer was partially inside her vehicle.

She received a suspended prison sentence of 19 to 48 months and up to four years of probation.

The court also ordered substance-abuse and mental-health evaluations.

That same year, Amber pleaded guilty to felony forgery involving Western Union money orders.

That case resulted in another suspended prison sentence and up to two years of probation.

By 2023, TMZ reported that she was no longer under court supervision in connection with either case.

Still, for many longtime fans, Amber’s legacy remains tied most closely to the woman they watched on television in 2007.

She was emotional.

She was vulnerable.

And she rarely tried to hide what she was feeling.

That openness made her stand out during a season filled with strong personalities.

Even years later, many viewers could immediately remember her reactions, friendships, and the intensity with which she experienced life inside the house.

Her death at 46 has now prompted fans to look back at that period again.

For some, it means remembering the contestant who cried often and earned one of the season’s most memorable nicknames.

For others, it means remembering the mother who spoke openly about her daughter and the person behind the reality-TV character.

Julie Chen Moonves perhaps summed up that memory most simply:

“Thank you for your heart and honesty. We will remember you with love ❤️.”

Amber Siyavus was 46.

May she rest in peace.
